The Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science was established in 1987 at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi by an endowment from the Conrad Blucher Family. Under the auspices of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station ($100M annual research contracts and grants) and in association with other Texas State agencies, the Institute's mission now includes state, federal, and private sector research and education conducted through four divisions:

- GIS, Geomatics, and Mapping
- Nearshore Research
- Environmental Engineering
- Bioacoustics and Nature Studies
