The National Undersea Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington is funded by a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as part of the National Undersea Research Program (NURP). NURP includes headquarters in Silver Spring, Md., and six regional centers. The center at UNCW supports undersea research off the southeastern United States, from N.C. to Texas. Center facilities and staff are located at the university's Center for Marine Science in Wilmington, N.C., and in Key Largo, Fla.
