The Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco results from a long trajectory, having its origin in the Instituto Juárez, which began its activities on January 1st, 1879. On November 20th, 1958, a new academic model gave origin to the Universidad Juárez de Tabasco, and 1966 it was granted autonomy for auto-governing and developing its functional structure. Thus the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco was born. It is currently organized into academic units and divisions, including several fields of science, economy, humanities, education and arts, informatics, and engineering and architecture, among others.
