Herb Leedy works with the Mineral Management Office - Gulf of Mexico. He is a member of the Gulf of Mexico Habitat Focus Team. He is involved in various projects, including taxonomic, ecologic and geologic studies of foraminiferal communities of bathyal and abyssal hydrocarbon seeps in the Northern Gulf of Mexico, and assessment of organisms with biotechnological potential associated to oil and gas platforms.
