Dr. Aguirre joined CINVESTAV in 1996, and conducts research on taxonomy, life cycle and ecology of aquatic animal parasites, with special emphasis on biology of trematodes and parasites of gastropod and bivalve molluscs. Her objective is to determine transmission processes in the hosts and the most frequent parasites of the most cultured aquatic organisms in the Yucatan Peninsula.
