Pleasure Island is located in Port Arthur, Texas. It is a 30 km long man-made body of land, extending from the mouth of the Neches River on the northwest to the Sabine Causeway on the southeast and is surrounded by Sabine Lake and the Intracoastal Waterway. The Island was made by the U.S. Corps of Engineers from deposits dredged while constructing the Port Arthur Canal in 1899, and the Sabine Neches Intracoastal Waterway, completed in 1908. Common activities on the island include boating, fishing, hiking and birding.
