Dr. Tyler is Senior Scientist Emeritus with the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. His research has focused on the systematics, morphology and phylogeny of fossil and extant tetradontiforms, zeiforms, and acanthuroid fishes. He has also studied the behavioral ecology of chaenopsid blennies.
