The tanaidacean reported by Escobar-Briones, Álvarez, and Salgado-Maldonado (1999) as Discapseudes holthuisi was later described as a new species, Discapseudes mexicanus Guţu, 2006, based on additional specimens from the same locality in the southwestern GMx.
