The Auburn University Marine Extension and Research Center (AUMERC), located in Mobile, Alabama near the shores of Mobile Bay and a short distance from the Gulf of Mexico, is part of the Auburn University School of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Sciences. AUMERC conducts problem-oriented research of interest to Alabama coastal residents and provides science-based information to the community which serves the best interest of commercial and recreational fishermen, seafood consumers, seafood processors, coastal policy-makers, economic developers, and the people of Alabama. AUMERC is actively involved with local governments, agencies, schools and organizations for whom we provide unbiased information to assist citizens and decision-makers when making choices about the future of coastal resources.
