The Florida Coastal Ocean Observing System (FLCOOS) Consortium is a group of state and private universities, non-profit organizations and private companies based in Florida who have an interest in Florida's ocean environment. The two main goals of FLCOOS are to design and implement an integrated Coastal Ocean Observing System (COOS), and to improve communication between people in Florida who are interested in the marine environment.

The FLCOOS Consortium is committed to a forward thinking COOS, developed for the Southeastern US and Gulf of Mexico regions. These COOS-related activities will be organized as part of the US effort to participate in the integrated global ocean observing systems that is responsive to the needs of Florida users, and inclusive of all areas and influences that affect the Florida coastal ocean.
