The Texas Sea Grant College Program is dedicated to the understanding, wise use and stewardship of the state’s coastal and marine resources.

It awards grants to researchers at universities across the state in three focus areas: coastal ecosystem health, coastal community and economic development, and marine education.

Texas Sea Grant Extension includes six coastal county-based extension agents and seven extension marine specialists in the areas of aquaculture, marine business, environmental quality, coastal community development, seafood, marine fisheries and marine education. Texas Sea Grant Extension makes practical use of the products of the program’s funded research projects.

The Marine Information Service communicates the results of Texas Sea Grant-funded research projects and supports the program’s extension functions through print publications, media releases and online resources.

The Program's Administration oversees Texas Sea Grant’s daily operations, awards the research grants, hosts conferences and coordinates the National Ocean Sciences Bowl’s (NOSB) annual Dolphin Challenge in College Station and Loggerhead Challenge in Corpus Christi.

Texas Sea Grant is part of a network of 32 university-based programs in coastal and Great Lakes states that operate as a partnership between the state governments and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
