Captain David W. Yeager, NOAA (Ret.) is Director of the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP). As Director, he is responsible for the continuing leadership and administration of one of the twenty-eight national estuary programs. He reports to a Policy Committee, appointed by the Governor. The MBNEP is a multi-million dollar, multi-year effort and is a partnership between local citizens, private and corporate stakeholders, the state of Alabama and the federal government.

Prior to accepting the MBNEP position, Yeager served a 29 -year career as a member of the nation’s smallest uniformed service, the NOAA Commissioned Corps; a career that combined science and national service. He retired as a Captain. Yeager served on six agency ships and was Commanding Officer of three. He led mapping and charting surveys and oceanographic research expeditions throughout many areas of the world.
