Soil Survey Project Leader

I am the Soil Survey Project Leader with the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Service (formerly the Soil Conservation Service). I am working primarily on the Soil Survey of Kenedy and Kleberg Counties in Texas. This survey includes Padre Island National Seashore, and also updating the existing Soil Surveys on the island systems of Nueces, Willacy and Cameron Counties. Part of the project on the National Seashore will also include mapping the subaqueous soils in the grass flats of Laguna Madre.

Our primary goal is to produce a Soil Survey Manual containing soil maps on aerial photography, along with descriptions of the characteristics, properties, and management concerns of the soils found within the different soil map units.
