Dr. Alan J. Brook (1923-2013)

Dr. Alan J. Brook was a British professor and phycologist. He was the author of 90 scientific publications and a number of books, including his final work which was a 600 page/1500 illustrations monograph on British desmids. He also co-edited The Freshwater Algal Flora of the British Isles: an identification guide to Freshwater and Terrestrial Algae, which is the definitive flora on algae.
