Dr. Barbara G. Briggs is an Australian botanist. She has published on 205 names of plants, and was part of the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group of the 1998 APG system. Her special interests include plant evolution and southern hemisphere biogeography. She has published key papers on the phylogeny and classification of the flowering plant families Restionaceae, Proteaceae, Myrtaceae and Scrophulariaceae. Since her retirement she continues as an Honorary Research Associate at the Sydney Botanical Gardens.
