Dr. Allee serves as a Senior Scientist for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management - Gulf Region located at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. In this position she provides guidance and technical support to Gulf of Mexico Alliance members through her co-facilitator role for the Human Benefits of Nature cross team initiative. The main objective of this team is identification of priority management issues through ecosystem assessments and characterization of habitat in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) region. Dr. Allee provides technical and scientific consultation and guidance on project development addressing coastal resources management, ecosystem assessment and habitat classification. One facet of her position is to explore and advocate for partnership opportunities in the GOM region to support these projects. Outside of her GOM responsibilities, Dr. Allee serves as the project lead in NOAA’s implementation of a national coastal and marine habitat classification system, the Coastal and Marine Ecological Classification Standard (CMECS). 

Dr. Allee joined the Office for Coastal Management (OCM) - Gulf Region after serving for over eight years in NOAA headquarters and brings a headquarters perspective to the region. Before joining OCM, Dr. Allee served as the Deputy Director of the Restoration Center within NOAA Fisheries’ Office of Habitat Conservation. Prior to that position, she served as Executive Assistant to the Acting Administrator and Deputy Under Secretary for Oceans and Atmosphere, Department of Commerce. Dr. Allee has been with NOAA since receiving her doctorate in biological sciences from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She also holds a Master of Science degree in aquatic biology from Stephen F. Austin State University, Texas.
