Dr. Charles D. Adams was an English botanist, who focused much of his research on tropical plant ecology and taxonomy. Dr. Adams began his career at the University of Gold Coast (Ghana). There he had numerous publications on West African vegetation and flora, focusing on pteridophytes and Compositae, establishing many new taxa. He later moved to the University College of the West Indies, where he authored Flowering Plants of Jamaica. He ended his career as an Honorary Associate at the Natural History Museum in London.
