Dr. Charles Killebrew is a Senior Scientist with the Louisiana OCPR. He has over 35 years of experience in natural resource management and 12 years of college teaching experience. During his career, he has been involved in a number of significant conservation efforts in Louisiana, including serving on the Governor’s Committee to develop a management plan for the Atchafalaya River Basin, and chairing a legislative task force for the Louisiana Scenic Rivers System. In 1989, he was appointed to the Governor’s staff as part of Governor Buddy Roemer’s coastal wetlands initiative, and was involved in establishing the Governor’s Office of Coastal Activities, and the Louisiana Coastal Wetlands Restoration Program. Later, he was appointed Confidential/Special Assistant to the LDEQ Secretary under three different administrations. As a member of the adjunct faculty at L.S.U., Dr. Killebrew teaches in the Environmental Management Systems Curriculum. He is a member of Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, and the American Fisheries Society, and has publications in the areas of aquatic resource management and coastal science. Currently, Dr. Killebrew represents Louisiana OCPR on the Nutrient Priority Issue Team of the Gulf of Mexico Alliance, and serves as a Commissioner representing the Governor’s Office of Coastal Activities on the Louisiana Ground Water Resources Commission.
