Dr. Wiley is Curator Emeritus at the University of Kansas Biodiversity Institute & Natural History Museum. He studies the evolution of fishes and the philosophy of Phylogenetic Systematics.

Throughout Dr. Wiley's career, he has published over 120 scientific papers and numerous books. His work includes comparative morphological and molecular analysis of fishes to determine their evolutionary relationships and papers on methods and philosophy of systematics and taxonomy.
