Dr. Judd served at the University of Texas-Pan American (UT-PA) since 1972, as an Assistant, Associate, and Research Professor. Courses taught include Introductory Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Vertebrate Zoology, Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy, Biology Seminar, Evolution, Ecology, Marine Ecology, Ecological Physiology, Field Zoology, Mammalogy, Mammalian Physiology, Biological Writing and Herpetology. From 1984 to 1994 Dr. Judd served as Director for the Coastal Studies Laboratory of UT-PA and from 1996 to 1999 he was Chairman of the Biology Department. Dr. Judd received the Distinguished Scientist Award for 2005 from the Texas Academy of Science.

Popular and scientific publications have been on the fauna and flora of South Padre Island, Rio Grande Valley, and the Laguna Madre of Texas and Tamaulipas. Dr. Judd was the author/coauthor of 113 scientific publications.

Dr. Judd passed away in 2020.
