My research program has two general areas of focus: ecology of invasive species and wetland plant ecology. Our work involves projects ranging from plot-scale studies of mechanisms enabling plant colonization and persistence to regional distribution of invasive plants and plants that host invasive insect herbivores. Objectives of the individual research projects range from identification of biotic or abiotic factors influencing plant distribution to application of plant associations for indexing ecosystem integrity and predictive modeling of plant distribution. Thus, we are a multi-faceted research group conducting both basic and applied research in support of my lab's research mission.
