Dr. Allen is one Australia's prominent ichthyologists. In his career, he has over 400 publications, including 32 books and 312 papers on marine and freshwater fishes. He was inducted into the Australian Society for Fish Biology.
He is currently a research associate of the Western Australian Museum and a consultant for Conservation International, World Wildlife Fund and the Nature Conservancy.
