Current Research:
Deep Gulf of Mexico Benthos (DGoMB). This MMS-sponsored project was a 5-year, multidisciplinary program involving an international assemblage of investigators and numerous graduate students. It investigated the structure and function of communities of organisms that live near and on the deep-sea floor. Extensive field work included bottom photography, coring and trawling, as well as an autonomous lander used to measure metabolic processes. A special issue of Deep-Sea Research II is being devoted to the "DGOMB" findings.
