Jim Ringelman holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in wildlife biology. His 32-year career has focused on research and conservation programs beneficial to waterfowl and their habitats. Jim spent 15 years with the Colorado Division of Wildlife, studying the ecology and management of waterfowl and other birds. He was an affiliate faculty member at Colorado State University, active in the Central Flyway, and implemented the Colorado State Duck Stamp program. In 1996, Jim joined the staff of Ducks Unlimited as Director of Conservation Programs at DU’s Great Plains Regional Office. While with DU, he helped conserve over a million acres of grasslands and wetlands, guided research and GIS programs, developed public policy positions critical to prairie conservation, and led the revision of the 2012 North American Waterfowl Management Plan. Recently retired, Jim is now a consultant, writer, and photographer who lives outside of Bismarck, North Dakota.
