Interdisciplinary research and policy actions are used to advance the sustainable management of coastal lands and habitats with diverse partners. Work includes land use planning for nearshore habitats and fisheries, marine protected areas, early life history and biophysical connectivity, and climate adaptation policies for coastal governments. 

-  Approx. 75 peer-review research articles and chapters in >20 science and policy journals and four books (Springer Press, Smithsonian Institution Press, Duke University Press, K.I.T. Scientific Publishers.. 

-  >20 international, federal, and local advisory panels & steering committees since 2000.

-  Building one of the first STEM-based Bachelor of Sciences Program in Sustainability in the southeastern U.S. has been a primary focus since 2009. There are now  >160 major and minor SUS graduates. The minors represent >30 majors from all colleges. Florida Tech is a Princeton Review Green College and STARS Silver rated campus.
