Dr. Atilla is the Instructional Program Manager at the zoology department of University of Wisconsin-Madison. She recently completed her research on Carbon Cycling in Lake Superior as a Research Associate at the Gaylord Nelson Institute/Center for Climatic Research at the Univ.of Wisconsin. She worked with Galen A. McKinley.

Dr. Atilla's past research involved identifying the changes in phytoplankton community structure from their signature pigments (HPLC) and the link between these changes and nutrient enrichment and development of seasonal hypoxia in Louisiana Continental Shelf and Louisiana estuaries. She worked with Dr. Nancy N. Rabalais.
