Research Interests

Ecology of zooplankton; nutrient cycling; upwelling ecosystems; high latitude ecosystems; population dynamics of zooplankton; and secondary productivity. My past research has included supervising biological investigation of the impact of nuclear power plants in the northeastern U.S. and writing technical reports; conducting research on zooplankton in an estuary and upwelling ecosystems including nutrient cycling, assimilation, ingestion, growth and species composition; studies of spatial structure in zooplankton; descriptive biological oceanography of Somali coastal waters as a function of monsoonal currents; studies of population dynamics and spatial structure of zooplankton in the Bering Sea, East Greenland Sea, and California Current; feeding ecology of crustacean herbivores in the New York Bight; reproductive biology and life history strategies of copepods in the New York Bight, California Current, Greenland Sea, and Arabian Sea.
