Oregon Sea Grant Director

Research Interests include:

  • Ecology, management and ecosystem forecasting of marine and freshwater ecosystems, including
  • Bioenergetics, trophic relationships, physical-biological interactions, and predator-prey interactions among fishes;
  • The ecology of thermal fronts;
  • Spatial modeling of fish growth and production;
  • Development and application of underwater acoustics for studies on patchiness, stock abundance and community size structure in pelagic ecosystems; and
  • Coastal ocean observing systems.

Current oil spill-related project:

-Rapid Collaborative Proposal: Spatially-explicit, High-resolution Mapping and Modeling to Quantify Hypoxia and Oil Effects on the Living Resources of the Northern Gulf of Mexico (NOAA-CSCOR)
