Dr. Freile joined Unidad Mérida of CINVESTAV in 1998. She is responsible for the Marine Physico-chemistry Laboratory. Her research focus is on obtaining and analyzing the chemical structure of algal products (phycocolloids, dietary fibers, pigments, fatty acids and bioactive metabolites) and assessing their use aiming at their potential industrialization.
