Mr. Sprinkel joined Mote Marine Laboratory in 1981, was promoted to Senior Biologist in 1986, and is currently Data Coordinator for the laboratory. As such, he performs statistical analyses for most MML programs, including an extensive evaluation and research of impacts of mechanical weed harvesting in Lake Okeechobee, and a marine habitat research and restoration study being performed at Pinellas Point on Tampa Bay. He has performed several oyster reef ecological studies on the west coast of Florida and has worked on numerous benthic ecology studies. He has also participated in studies involving water chemistry, fisheries, shoreline inventories, water circulation, ichthyoplankton and macroalgae. Mr. Sprinkel is co-author of an extensive benthic bibliography of the coastal areas of Florida. He served as Task Leader for two oyster reef studies on six west Florida estuaries and is involved in research in fishery stock enhancement and fish physiology. He has also served as coordinator for the MML marine mammal aerial survey program.
