I have studied the birds of southern Texas, especially their migration systems, for 40 years. Additionally I have traveled widely throughout Middle and South America in ecotourism and research work including a residency of 8 six-month seasons as resident naturalist in Manu National Park in Peru. Presently I am research coordinator for the Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, a research, education and conservation organization dedicated to the understanding and conservation of birds and their habitats in the region of the Gulf of Mexico.
