This project will address changes to the water environment of the bay like those that may be caused by a reduction in quality and quantity of water delivered to it. Florida's Apalachicola River receives its water from Georgia and Alabama. Agriculture, commerce and urbanization upstream in those states determine the degree to which water reaching Apalachicola Bay may have been altered in quality and quantity. The model under construction should interface with two other models of the bay: a model of the effects of watershed development on the amount of river water entering the bay, and a model of changing water quality and currents within the bay.
