The northern GMx specimens described by Seig et al. (1982) from marshes at St. Marks, Florida, differ from the original description from the Bahamas, especially the development of male chela. Whether these differences are ecophenotypic or indicate the presence of a distinct northern GMx species awaits a critical comparison with the type material.
